If you hear a conversation involving Ancient Golf Club of collectors, there are certain things that you're almost certain to hear that discussed. Unfortunately old plates, is not likely to be one of those things. No doubt you know the fascination of golf club hickory and how all involved the conversation has a collection of golf memorabilia is a little better than the other.
However, the old plates that seem to collect very little attention despite considered a role in golf history.
Perhaps one explanation is that although the history of golf itself back to the 15th century, which is widely accepted that iron is not introduced on a large scale until the late 18th century Scotland, the birthplace of golf as we know.
Another possible explanation is the discomfort of many of the first in which these additional plates Club created more options, and substantially reduced the pace of play
Initially, they were introduced as plates, and is used to, hitting, rough or otherwise is not playable. Almost 100 years later, at the end of 1870, the old plates extended its reach in the arsenal of a player with the introduction of mid-range irons driving and irons. Until we actually started to increase his popularity during this period, most were produced by blacksmiths.
Another interesting fact about the old plates is well known the avid collector, but probably not all the naming conventions has been associated with these clubs. Unlike today the names of the two plates iron, 3, etc. Iron 7, plates are now quite old Cleek call (equivalent to a 2-iron), chiggers (corner of today), Mashi (5 iron) Niblicks, and (9 plates). They also missed yesterday and today, a common characteristic, and which were not mass produced, but shaped by individual blacksmiths.
Looking back in history of golf, it is clear that the old plates have played a role to play in the evolution of the game. There are some interesting aspects to the collection of golf clubs, antiques, and could be the reason they are sometimes more shade. I hope that your assessment of them grow a little knowledge with this new role in the history of golf.
