To be known as the "cute Beatle," James Paul McCartney was born in Liverpool, England, June 18, 1942, son to father James and his mother Mary McCartney.
Paul's mother, who was very close, was a midwife, a skill he learned while worked as a maternity nurse in the same hospital as her son Paul was born at Walton General Hospital in Liverpool. His father worked for for A. day Hannay Co. as a cotton salesman, then as a jazz musician with Jim Mac's Jazz Band at night.
At school Paul was an exceptional student. After gale in elementary school and high school with honors, passed a test called the 11-plus, which put him in a sort of type of elite school known as the Liverpool Institute. Here's where he met his fellow group and friend, George Harrison.
In 1955, when he was 14, Paul's mother died tragically of breast cancer after an accident stroke, probably due to a mastectomy operation after stopping the spread of cancer. This incident has deeply affected, and was important part of the obligation that he and John Lennon, who also lost his mother at an early age, formed. (Her mother was killed in Menlove Avenue by a car driven by an officer while intoxicated, police out of service).
Musically, Paul began trumpet, probably because his father does it take place Brass Band concert to expose him to music. Quickly changed the trumpet of a guitar but after acoustic style of music called Skiffle became popular.
skiffle music is a genre of music that combines influences of folk and blues. Music was interesting that combines traditional instruments like acoustic guitar and piano with a single object, such as the washboard, comb, a saw, etc. One of the biggest stars of skiffle was the late Lonnie Donegan.
Paul found playing his first acoustic guitar was almost impossible to be on the left, until he saw a poster of a famous musician of the era (Jimi Hendrix) playing left handed with the strings hanging upside down.
At 15, Paul met John Lennon, who was playing in his own Quarrymen Skiffle Group recently called (Name of Quarry Bank Grammar School, attended). The two were introduced by a mutual friend called Ivan Vaughan.
On July 6, 1957, the group occurs in the afternoon St. Peter Church fête.In garden to play in a temporary stage in a field behind the church. After the series, Ivan Vaughan, a safe time to time you bassist, introduced Paul McCartney to John Lennon while the group was created in the parish hall for the second series. McCartney showed the band to tune a guitar and sang Eddie Cochran's "Twenty Flight Rock" and Gene Vincent "Be-Bop-A-Lula" and a medley of Little Richard comes to accompaniment on guitar. The evening began at 20 pm and cost two shillings admission. Audience member Bob Molyneux part of the performance recorded by the night in a Grundig portable tape recorder reel to reel. Two weeks later, the meeting McCartney while cycling through Woolton, Pete Shotton, on behalf of John and the group asked McCartney to join them.
Nigel Whalley, chest area bassist who is currently managing the band, got a reservation at Quarry Men Lee Park Golf Club in Liverpool. Alan Sytner, owner of The Cavern Club, was member of the golf club. The group subsequently appeared several times in what is billed as "Skiffle Sessions" and in August 1957, his name was mentioned in Notice the cave in the Liverpool Echo, when Pete Shotton had left the group. Rod Davis has followed from school commitments have unable to contribute as much as he had hoped.
Paul McCartney made his debut with the group for a social club in New Conservative Clubmoor Hall on Broadway in Norris Green Back, Liverpool, Friday, October 18, 1957, when he returned from their summer holidays. The group had been reserved by local promoter Charlie McBain and wore matching shirts costumes cowboy with long sleeves, black trousers and black cords. John and Paul wore white sport coats. Paul plays the guitar, but a frustrating, embarrassing himself and the group. To save face with John, during a break, he played "I lost my little girl "- has recently completed his first song, which inspired John to begin writing. The other members of the group the night Hanton on drums, low wooden box Garry Griffiths on guitar.
Shortly after, the Quarrymen were practicing in the room Paul McCartney. This demonstrates the support that Jim McCartney was your child, even though the weather was not very troubled by the fact that Paul was suspended with the appearance Lennon boring.
The Quarrymen had a progression of names - Johnny and The Moondogs, Long John and the Beatles, the Silver Beetles (suggestion derivatives Larry Williams "Long John Silver Beetles and ") - and finally decided on August 17, 1960" The Beatles ". There are several theories about the origin and name spelling unusual, but is generally attributed to John Lennon, who said the name is a combination word-play of the insects "beetles" (As a Glance / Compliment to Buddy Holly's band, The Crickets) and the word "beat". He said later that it was a joke, it's a play on words "Beat-less".
With endless change of group members, and name changes over time George Harrison was born the band on guitar, Paul moved to the guitar on bass (in place of Stuart Sutcliffe, who died of a cerebral hemorrhage). Shortly after, the man in general known as the "fifth Beatle" Pete Best was asked to leave and Ringo Starr ... and the rest is history.
